REACH! Hosted A Spectacular Album Release Party

In an aggressive initiative to create new artistic experiences for youth, REACH! brings in 2008 with an album release party for its first recording artist, JMC. The event took place at Hotel Carlisle (Embers Convention Center) in the Clarion Ballroom on Saturday, February 2nd from 6 - 9 p.m. for all ages.

JMC, whose full name is Jordan Michael Coulson, performed several songs, complete with REACH! back-up dancing group DNL (Da Next Level). Coulson, no stranger to the professional world of entertainment, created an album that’s motivational, thought-provoking and funny, in the hip-hop and pop genres but without the inappropriate content and lyrics. Coulson, who has appeared in commercials and movies such as Step-Up and Annapolis, wrote the entire album's songs while Elijah Morton, fellow REACH! co-director and choreographer created his dance routines.

There was a $5 cover charge and those who attended the event were automatically entered to win Ticket Master gift cards and iPod Shuffles. Purchase of the JMC CD entered you to win an iPod Touch (worth over $300) and the official “limited edition” JMC Hoodie. Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments were served throughout the evening.

The entire event was filmed as a JMC music video, featuring the popular JMC dance craze “Robin Hood.” All those who wished to be part of the filming were required to sign a talent release form in order to participate. Those under age 18 had written consent from their parent/legal guardian.

JMC’s CD is now available for purchase at Gold’s Gym locations in Carlisle and Chambersburg, as well as at the Dickinson College Book Store and the Carlisle Family YMCA. The CD will also be available for downloading on iTunes.

Jason Reed, a Carlisle native, Juilliard Graduate and entertainment business professional, said the event was part of his continuing vision to bring the arts to Carlisle and surrounding area youth. Mr. Reed is also the Youth & Y Arts Director at the Carlisle Family YMCA.

“Sometimes it’s been hard to get young people to try new things or understand their full potential. Since Jordan and Elijah work with so many youth on a weekly basis and have their respect, this was not only a perfect opportunity to hopefully inspire them to go after their dreams but exemplify the results of good old fashioned hard work,” he said.
